Dr. Amar G. Bose (1929 – 2013)

Engineer, inventor, founder, and chairman of the Bose Corporation, Dr. Bose brought a passion tested by industry to the classrooms of M.I.T. Focused on stereo speaker innovation through use of psychoacoustics, the Bose Corporation became greatly successful, with consumer and military applications alike. A revered professor, Dr. Bose also devoted a considerable amount of his life to M.I.T. After joining the faculty in 1956, he taught more than 45 years. In 2011, Bose donated a majority of the company’s non-voting shares to the institution.
